Carol A. Kempesty Lavigne
June 3rd, 1950 - December 12th, 2013
"Palmer, Carol A. (Bigda) Kempesty Lavigne, 63, died peacefully on December 12, 2013 at home with her loving family by her side. Born in Ware, MA on June 3, 1950, she was the daughter of Stanley and Alexandra (Skoczylas) Bigda. She has resided in Palmer her entire life and was a graduate of its high school. Carol was a Para Professional for the Palmer School System for over 20 years. A very spiritual woman, she made trips to Medjugorje, Lourdes, Our Lady of Fatima and the Vatican. She was a communicant of the former St. Adalbert's Church and most recently, Divine Mercy. She was active in the Rosary Sodality and many other parish activities. She will long be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well as a woman of great faith. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 9 years, Richard Lavigne, along with her sons Michael Kempesty and his wife, Jessica of Windham, NH and Timothy Kempesty and his wife Sarah of Springfield. She also leaves her 3 precious grandchildren Owen, Ayla and James Kempesty. Additionally her sister Janice Chmura and her husband Richard of Taunton, and 2 step children Michael and Lindsey Lavigne of Springfield survive her. Besides her parents, her first husband Joseph Kempesty predeceased her in 1989. Calling hours will be Monday, December 16th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St. Services will be Tuesday at 9:15 from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Divine Mercy Church, followed by burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. For those wishing, donations may be made in her memory to Rays of Hope, Baystate Health System, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield MA, 01199. "
