Myrtle Elizabeth Kent Harvey
January 19th, 1936 - March 19th, 2020
Mother Harvey was proceeded in death by her husband, the late Elder Julius “Buck” Marshall Harvey,her brother, McKinley “Perk” Purvey, her daughter, Dianne and son David (Mary Elaine) Harvey. She leaves to cherish her loving memories to her sister, Gayle (Vaughn) Reid, her brothers,Clifton “Billy” (Denise) Russell, Howard (Cheryl), Michael and Gary Kent. Her adopted daughter, Mary Anne “Dottie” (Stanley), Stewart, her adopted family, Gladys, Calvin and Carl. Robert and Albert proceeded her in death. Sisters-in-law, Elsie Cleckley, proceeded her in death, Viola (Willie) Carroll, Bertha Fields, and Carlene (Ernest) Parker. She also leaves a host of close friends that were dear to her heart. Although her sole is resting, Mother Harvey leaves to cherish dearly her everlasting memoriesto her beloved son, Douglas, her daughters; Dellarease, Denise (Robert) Jones, Debra (John B.) Mason, Darlicia (Juan) Easton, Detoria (Garland) Mason Jr, Dovena, Dakota, Dytalis, and Dichina (Maurice) Halder. Her grandchildren recall teachable moments, bible study, childhood stories, and the pure loveof a grandmother. Her grandchildren; Tyraka - Mutt (Ruthie), Terance - Tutt (Kelly), Paris, Pierre (Brittani)Monique, Amanda (Shawn), Ebony, Taurean, April, Ashley, Rhodesia (Keyonna), Daviea, Datoria, Dayawna, Julia, Joshua, Sherrel, Jessica, Amelia, Zachary, Zoe, Trayonna, Tiyonna and “Mikos” - Ma’s baby boy. Her great-grandchildren; Darius, Tyra Kay, Jonathan David, Hannah Leonor, Kody, Brazil, Carter,“Anthony” - Ma’s prayer warrior, Terance Lovell Jr., Jada Renea, Maya, Dominique, Lauryn, Zhara, Zharia, Gabriel, Phoebe, Braylin, Liam, Ava, Priscilla and Tiana. Mother Myrtle Elizabeth Kent Harvey began her journey on January 19, 1936 to the late AmeliaElizabeth Mackall and the late Daniel Webster Gayhart Kent. She peacefully departed this life on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Solomon’s Rehabilitation and Care Center. Mother Harvey attended Calvert County and the District of Columbia Public Schools. Atthe age of 15, she met and married her beloved handsome husband of 38 years, the late Elder Julius “Buck” Marshall Harvey. Thereafter, she became a member of Greater Morning Star Apostolic Church under the late Bishop Ramsey Butler. On February 22, 1962, MotherHarvey was baptized in Jesus Name and received the precious gift of the holy ghost under the late Bishop Wilbur S. Simmons. In the early 1990s longing to finish her education, she enrolled in a high school diploma programvia U.S. Mail. “Ma” loved studying and doing her homework with her grandchildren. She received her High School Diploma from American School on May 22, 1997. Mother Harvey, a true servant of God, a loving wife, mother, aunt, and confidant; rearing twelvechildren was a strong God-fearing woman, adored by all she encountered. She had the biggest heart, always willing to cook a meal for anyone in need. She enjoyed being with her family, listening to gospel music; a favorite hymn “ I’m determined to hold outto the end” and reading her bible. Her favorite quote amongst many was “Is anything too hard for God?” As her health began to decline, she became bedridden. Nothing brought more joy than gettingvisits from her church family, phone calls from her friends, watching Judge Judy, family feud or westerns shows. Mother Harvey was a wordsmith, credited for “unique names” for her twelve children, friends children and her grandchildren.
