Timothy J. McCarthy
April 2nd, 1923 - September 24th, 2005
"Palmer- Timothy McCarthy, 82, of Pleasant Street passed away September 24th at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born April 2, 1923, in Drimoleague, County Cork, Ireland. Timothy was the son of the late Daniel and Ellen (Hurley) McCarthy. Timothy came to the United States in 1944. He worked as a carpenter for several companies and retired from Monson Developmental Center 1985. Mr. McCarthy was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed building and repairing grandfather clocks in his home. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Honora (Waters), three sons, Daniel and his wife Noreen of Palmer, Timothy and his wife Randi of Vacaville, CA, John and his wife Susan of Chesapeake, VA. Three daughters Mary Ellen of West Hartford, CT, Margaret of Palmer and Kathleen Cable and her husband Scott of Holland MA. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers Daniel, Patrick, Fr. Sean, and Jerome, sisters Nora Driscoll, Mary Miller, and Jean Cummins. He is survived by his sisters Nellie Murphy, Sara Connolly and Kathleen Hannigan all of Ireland. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, Meghan and Colleen McCarthy, Amanda and Abigail McCarthy, Joshua, Nathaniel and Brandon Cable, Kelsey, Christopher, Jason, Kathleen McCarthy, Christopher Frank. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Timothy’s memory to St. Thomas Church, Thorndike St. in Palmer. "
