Alfred "Buck" Smith
December 21st, 1942 - February 19th, 2014
Alfred “Buck” Smith, 71, of Brighton, passed away on February 19, 2014 after a long illness. Born December 21, 1942 in Salinas, California to Leslie and Ruth (Eavenson) Smith, he attended Modesto High School and served in the U.S. Army. He married Consuelo “Connie” Rocha in June 1960. Buck was a loving husband, father and Papa, leaving behind Connie, his wife of 53 years, and his children Victor (Judy) Smith of Brighton; Andrea Smith of Denver; Angela (John) Hiatt of Genesee; Aaron (Shantel) Smith of Phoenix, AZ; Alex Smith of Brighton; Spencer (Reina Reyes) Smith of Brighton; and Ross Smith of Brighton. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Matthew Smith, Lindsay Hiatt, Andrew Hiatt, Cole Smith, Siobhan Sena, Shauntelle Smith, Evan Smith, and Spencer “Raiden” Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved brother Ken Smith, and grandchildren Victor and Nicole Smith. He is survived by siblings, Maridel Tudela of Pensacola, Florida, Sharon (Jim) Warren of Polson, Montana, Melvin Smith of Modesto, California, and sister-in-law Bridget Espinosa Smith of Thornton, as well as various in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews who reside in Colorado, California, and throughout the country. Buck owned and operated Adams County Sewer Service in Brighton for over thirty years. He loved people and enjoyed visiting with family (especially his grandchildren) and friends. His favorite pastimes included playing pool, golfing, watching classic movies, tinkering with his jukeboxes, listening to oldies, and watching sports. He co-founded the Brighton Pool League and was an officer for several years. Buck competed at numerous national pool tournaments in Las Vegas and was very proud of his sons for carrying on his billiards legacy. He was also a member of the Brighton Eagles. A celebration of Buck’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 at Jordinelli’s, 25 N. Main St., Brighton, CO 80601.
