Gene Leslie Newton

Gene Leslie Newton, 87, of Canby, died December 18, 2013. He was born October 1, 1926 in Newberg, Oregon to Isaac and Bertie (Odessie) Newton. He graduated from Molalla High school and served as a radio operator in the U.S. Navy. On July 31, 1947, he married Geneva "Rosie" Cardwell in Vancouver, Washington. He owned Gene's Home Electronics in Canby from 1956 to 1982, and the sold the company to his son. He was a founding member of the Canby Utility Board and a member of the Lions Club and Canby Area Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife; son, Jim, of Canby; daughter, Janice Kellogg, of Hillsboro, three granchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life for Gene: His family and friends are invited to celebrate his life the way Gene would have wanted at an Open House, Sunday, January 19 from 1-5 PM @ 1511 NE Laurelwood Circle, Canby, Oregon.
