Roger G. Robert
June 29th, 1917 - February 7th, 2010
"Chicopee - Roger G. Robert, 92, of Granby Rd. died on February 7, 2010 in Willimansett East Nursing Home. He was born June 29, 1917 in Holyoke, MA, son of George and Alice (Talbot) Robert. Roger served his country in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 0337. He was raised in Ludlow and has lived in Chicopee for over 70 years. He was a communicant of St. Rose de Lima Church and a member of the League of Sacred Heart. In 1973, Roger received his G.E.D. from Chicopee Comp. Roger worked as a gun maker for Savage Arms in Chicopee for 41 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed candle pin bowling, playing cards and his rose garden. He is survived by five children, Shirley Lemire of Easthampton, Kenneth Robert of Chicopee, George Robert of Granby, Charles Robert of Lexington, SC, and Dennis Robert of Chicopee. He will also be missed a brother Joseph Robert of Wilbraham, sister Diane Farley of E. Longmeadow, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a special friend Virginia Lee of Santa Rosa, CA Roger was preceded in death by his wife Mary Rose (LeClerc) Robert in 2007 and a son Roger R. Robert in 1998 . Family and friends may gather at Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to follow in procession to a Mass of Christian burial at St. Rose de Lima's Church in Chicopee at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the St. Rose de Lima Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 3:00 - 6:00p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1905. "
