"Constance R. (Vennert) Chase, 84, died August 25 in Ft. Myers. Born in Palmer on Jan, 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Eleanor L. Jamison and James A. Vennert and was a 1939 graduate of Palmer High School. She lived in Palmer for many years until relocating to Ft. Myers in 1988. While in Palmer, she was an active member of the Second Congregational Church. Among the many ways she served her church was as a member of the Board of Deacons, as the Registrar for the Community Day Camp (now known as Walter W. Chase Memorial Park), as well as working in the former Church Mouse shop. She was also was active in the church Couples Club and began the church’s Chrismon tree in memory of her son who was killed in Vietnam. She worked as a bookkeeper and as an interpreter at Old Sturbridge Village from 1977-1987. Her Husband of 46 years, Walter L. Chase died in 1989. She was also predeceased by her son, Walter W. “Beebe” Chase, a Veteran of the Vietnam war, killed in action in 1969. She will be deeply missed by her remaining children; daughters, Carol R. LaPointe and her husband Harvey E. of Park City, UT, and Linda L. Sleeth, and her husband Randall G. of Midlothian, VA, and her sons, Stuart A. Chase, and his wife, Julie B., of Lanesborough, MA and Brian J. Chase, and his wife Andrea C. of Wayland, MA. She also leaves a sister Dorothy Peers, of Tucson, AZ, along with her seven grandchildren, Timothy W. and Christine B. LaPointe, of Park City, UT, Andrew G. Sleeth, of Reston, VA, Matthew B. Sleeth, of Richmond, VA, Eliza J. Chase, of Lanesborough, MA Tyler W. and Trevor W. Chase, of Wayland, MA. A memorial service in her memory will be held on Friday September 9th at 12:00 PM at the Second Congregational Church followed by burial in Oak Knoll cemetery. For those wishing, memorial contributions should be sent to Carol LaPointe, PO Box 1736, Park City, UT 84060 with a check made to the Walter W. Chase Memorial Scholarship Fund. "
