J. "Kenny" Kenneth Smith

Jay Kenneth “Kenny” Smith, 55, of Thornton, passed away on October 21, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. Kenny was a loving husband and father leaving behind Bridget, his wife of 26 years, and current fur babies, Ginger, Sparky and Ozzy. He was preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Ruth Smith. He is survived by siblings Buck (Connie) Smith of Brighton, Maridel Tudela of Pensacola, Florida, Sharon (Jim) Warren of Polson, Montana, and Melvin Smith of Modesto, California; his estranged daughter, Pilar Romero of Fort Lupton and four grandchildren; nieces Andrea Smith of Denver and Angela (John) Hiatt of Genesee; nephews Victor (Judy) Smith of Brighton, Aaron (Shantel) Smith of Arizona, Alex, Spencer and Ross Smith of Brighton; and various other nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews who reside in Colorado and throughout the country. Kenny owned his own plumbing business and met many of his friends through his employment. He loved people and tremendously enjoyed visiting with family and friends. His favorite pastimes included golfing, camping, fishing and playing pool. He was also a phenomenal cook. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the 1886 Historic Church, 147 S. 1st Ave., Brighton, CO 80601. Please note, the church is very small; therefore, seating is limited. Parking can be found in the RTD parking lot behind the church. A reception will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Jordinelli’s, 25 N. Main St., Brighton, CO 80601.
