"Brimfield-Mary M. (Carter) Skowyra, 79, formerly of Old Palmer Rd., died July 20 at Lifecare Center of Wilbraham surrounded by her family. Born November 15, 1925 in Palmer, she was the daughter of the late James and Margurite (Hannifan) Carter. Mary was born and raised in Bondsville, graduated from Palmer High School and moved to Brimfield in 1951 at the time she married her husband Theodore. She was a phone operator at the former Palmer Telephone and also helped her husband at Ted’s Car Care Center in Palmer, which he owned for over 25 years. Mary was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and a member of the Rosary Sodality. Besides her husband, she leaves her two children, James Skowyra and his wife Kathy of Monson, and Mary Ellen Skowyra and her life companion Richard Trahan of Belchertown. Mary also is survived by one granddaughter Mackenzie. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be in Brimfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 2348 Post Rd., Warwick, RI, 02886. "
