"Belchertown - Our wonderful, kind mother, Louise Florence (Major) Roberts, 91, of Catherine Dr. died peacefully on July 18, 2013 at home. Born December 19, 1921 in Holyoke, she was the daughter of Eugene and Bertha Major. Louise spent her early married years in Springfield before moving her family to West Springfield. She then moved to Belchertown to be close to her family and resided there for the past 13 years. She enjoyed her daily visits at the Belchertown Senior Center and eventually the Holyoke Geriatrics. Surviving are her children, Amanda Kavanagh Spellacy and her husband Edward, with whom she lived, Mark Roberts and wife Leslie Hammond of New London, CT, Gerald Roberts and Joanne Walton of Windsor, MA, Sheila Craven of Suffield, CT, Martha O'Clair of Croydon, NH, Sara and Ron Jolicoeur of Thompson, CT, Mary and Larry Strycharz of Belchertown, Joseph and Lori Roberts of Fountain, CO, along with her siblings Dolor Major of Monson, Alice Carpenter of VA, Theresa O'Malley of Springfield. Louise will be sorely missed by her 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Roberts Jr., along with a son, Kenneth Roberts and wife JoAnn Prince, brothers, Nelson, Paul, and Eugene Major and sister, Loretta Ballard. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Church, followed by burial in St. Michael's cemetery in Springfield. Calling hours will be Monday, July 22 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Our mother loved flowers but memorial contributions may be made to the Belchertown Senior Center. There work with seniors allowed our mother to live at home for as long as she did and we are very grateful. "
