Donald Robert Cummings
December 6th, 1937 - September 11th, 2021
Donald Robert "Don" Cummings, 83, of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021. Born Monday, December 6, 1937 in Chester, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Reese Luther and Emily Cameron Cummings. In 1956 he attended Pennsylvania Military College and in 1958, Don joined the U.S. Air Force where he was assigned to Strategic Air Command as a radio operator on KC-47 refueling planes. He graduated Widener College with a Bachelor's degree in business and worked for Dupont for over 30 years until his retirement. Don was a devout Mason. He started his Masonic career in 1984 and joined Charlotte NC Temple Lodge 676 in 1995 where he served as a Master Mason in 2001 and 2007. Don enjoyed working with his hands, painting and renovating houses, playing golf, collecting elephants and spending time with his family and his favorite dogs Bear, Maggie and Tommy, West Highland White Terriers also known as Westies. Don is survived by his loving wife, Anne-Marie Cummings; daughter, Debra "Debbie" Hunt and her husband, Sherman; sister, Wendy Cummings Borsari and her husband, Matthew; grandchildren: Christopher James Hunt, Joshua Lee Hunt and his wife, Kerry, Robert Clayton Hunt and his wife, Delanie, Clayton Fink, Maya Carpenter. Great grandchildren Devynn Paige Hunt, Jaxon Reese Hunt, Giuliana Mae Hunt and Maddalena Grace Hunt; nephew, Ethan Louis Borsari; niece, Devon Avanelle Esparza and her husband Vincent; great nieces, Addison Margaret Borsari and Avanelle Sophia Esparza; son, Andrew Murray Cummings; and many more loving family and friends. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Woconish Cummings, their son, Donald Reese Cummings and daughter, Karen Elizabeth Cummings. A gathering will take place from 2 to 3pm and a celebration of Don's life will be 3 pm Sunday, June11, 2023 in the chapel at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service.
