"Granby, Claire G. Cormier, 87, died peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 8. Born in Holyoke on September 20, 1925, she was the daughter Leo and Aldora (LaDouceur) Payette. She resided in Granby for most of her life and recently relocated to Belchertown to live with her daughter. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Claire was a Registered Nurse, working for 25 years at Providence Hospital in the neonatal unit. She will be deeply missed by her two children, Paul of Providence RI and Ann Johnson and her husband Dale of Belchertown along with her daughter in law, Wendy Cormier of San Diego, CA, six grandchildren, Nicholas & wife Stefania, Amanda, Katherine and Christian Cormier, Brian Johnson and Sandra Potter along with seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brothers in law Ronald Cormier and his Pauline of South Hadley and Wilfred Cormier of Chicopee. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Armand in 2007, two children, Patricia Ann and David, siblings, Alfred Menard and Dorothy Payette. The family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care provided to their mother by Dr.'s Glen, Garry and Thomas Bombardier and Dr. Jonathan Slater.. Funeral Services will be on Monday, January 14 at 8:45 a.m. at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
