Mary Jacqueline Davidson
May 30th, 1934 - November 13th, 2022
Mary Jacqueline Coffey Davidson, (Jackie), Passed on to her heavenly home on November 13th, 2022, following a long illness. Jackie was born on May 30,1934 in Banner Elk, North Carolina. She was the oldest of 7 children born to Benson Coffey and Cleo Miller Coffey. Following graduation from Crossnore High School and Crossnore Business School, Jackie moved to Charlotte and went to work for the Westinghouse Electric Supply Company for 9 years. While she was there, she met the love of her life, Roy Davidson, on a blind date in 1957. They were married on November 22,1958 at Dilworth United Methodist Church. After spending some time to start a family, She went to work at Chantilly Elementary School cafeteria and then to Presbyterian Hospital (Novant Main) and was a nursing secretary for 23 years. Jackie was beloved by many in her community and church. She was a faithful member of Dilworth United Methodist Church in Charlotte for many years where she volunteered her time and energy to the Women's Service Guild, the United Methodist Women, The Heritage Room, and the Bereavement Committee, among others. She was a member of the Bowles Sunday school class and sang in the Dilworth chancel choir. Additionally, she cared for many friends, family, and people in her community on an individual need basis. She is survived by her 3 sons and spouses, Roy Davidson Jr. (Jane) of Charlotte, Stephen Davidson (Karen) of Concord, Julian Davidson (Debbie) of Midland and stepdaughter Winifred Peeler of Florida City, FL. One grandson, Brett Davidson, step grandchildren, Jack Southard, Selina Mills, Jeffery Peeler, Samantha Bassinger, and Brooke Bassinger. Also, numerous nieces, nephews and step great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy, and 5 siblings and their spouses: Jimmy Coffey (Jeanette), Carolyn Coffey Nash (Boyd), Joyce Coffey Dieringer (Darel), Mariam Coffey Cornett (Baine), and Patricia Coffey Gragg (Homer). Memorials in Jackie's memory can be made to; Dilworth United Methodist Church, 605 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, Ram's Rack Thrift Store, 147 New Vale Rd., Newland, NC 28657 Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte, 7845 Little Ave., Charlotte, NC 28226. Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman, 705 Griffith, suite 203 Davidson, NC 28036. Jackie's life will be celebrated on Thursday, November 17th, 2022, at Dilworth United Methodist Church, 605 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203. Visitation will be from 11:30am until 12:30pm and Services will begin at 1:00 pm. Graveside service will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
