Walter Richard Dec
January 3rd, 1947 - August 27th, 2004
"Oak Ridge, NJ-Walter R. Dec, 57, of Oak Ridge, NJ, died August 27, 2004. Born in Holyoke January 3, 1947, he was the son of Mary (Samborski) Dec of Granby and the late Adolph Dec. Serving his country in the U.S. Airforce during Vietnam, Walter was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Jolanda (Nadolski). Relocating with his employer, Walter has lived in New Jersey for the past 20 years. He previously resided in Granby and Holyoke. Walter was employed for many years at the former Worthington Pump Co. in Holyoke, which then became Atlas Copco. Walter enjoyed the Red Sox and treasured his dog Sundance. On July 5, 2004, his wife, Jolanda Elisabeth (Nadolski) Dec passed away. She was born January 23, 1944 in Germany. Besides his mother, Walter leaves his daughter Barbara Dec of Wilbraham, and siblings Tony Dec of Maryland, Patricia Cahill of Vermont and Cindy Gaspari of Chicopee along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. (Rte 116). A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. In accordance with Walter’s love for animals, donations may be made in his memory to MSPCA Attn: Joan Stark, 350 S.Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130. "
