Lucille "Lu" Trompke
November 16th, 1924 - February 11th, 2016
"Granby - Lucille M. (L'Esperance) Trompke, 91, passed away on February 11, 2016 . She was born November 16, 1924 in South Hadley, daughter of Leon and Beatrice (Emery) L'Esperance. She graduated from S.Hadley High in 1942 and lived in Granby since 1947. In 1959, Lucille became a widow and worked hard to raise her two small children with help from family and friends. Lucille retired, in 1989 from Mt. Holyoke College after working over 20 years in the culinary and housekeeping departments. Lucille was loved and adored by all who knew her. She was an avid Patriots fan, passionate about history and loved Jeopardy. She is survived by a son, Mark Trompke and wife Marilee of Granby and a daughter Susan White of Youngstown, NY. She also leaves five grandchildren, Marisa Gray (Ryan), Matthew Trompke, William White (Desiree), Lauren Morse (Nick), Zachary White (Ashley), 6 great grandchildren, Morgan, Lucille and Jack Gray, Ryland Morse, Ramona and Sophie White, a brother-in- law, Richard Trompke (Lois), many nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Trompke, two sisters, Julie Hrybyk and Madeline Schenker, and a son-in-law, Robert White. The family would like to thank West Mass Elder Care, Loving Care, Meals on Wheels, the local churches weekend meal's program, and Baystate Hospice for their support, kindness and compassion. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 20 at 9:00 a.m. from Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St.. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in S. Hadley. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, February 19, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Lucille, lovingly known as "Grandma Kitty", loved cats, so in her memory please make donations to Dakin Animal Shelter, the American Cancer Society or Baystate Hospice."
