Mrs. Charlene Surber Flack, 80, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on March 24, 2023. Charlene was born on June 19, 1942 in Ronceverte, WV, daughter of the late Charles Surber and Doris Leftwich Surber. She was formerly employed at Pace Development Group as an office administrator. Charlene enjoyed the peace and quiet of home as well as being an active member of her community. Charlene adored her two cats, Pixie & CoCo and felt much comfort in having them around. Charlene loved the outdoors and wildlife. She loved birds and enjoyed watching them feed at the feeders in her front yard. Charlene will be remembered for her sweet demeanor and love of life and her love and devotion to her family. Charlene will be missed by those who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Flack, Sr. Surviving are her Son, Thomas Lee Flack, Jr. and Daughter-in-Law Victoria; Daughter Samantha Leigh Borte and Son-in Law Derek; two grandsons, Joshua Martin Flack and Justin Wolf Flack. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Hankins and Whittington, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alex Crisp Foundation, 6719-C Fairview Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 or to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
