All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Mary Stoffell
May 26th, 1922 - April 29th, 2018
Mary Alice Stoffel (AKA Bails, Carson, McGrail) Born in 1922, our beloved “Aunt Mary Alice” passed into Glory two weeks shy of Mothers Day 2018. A remarkable woman, she was a perfect model of ‘The Greatest Generation’. Mary Alice outlived three decorated WWll Officers; each of which gave her both biological children and step-children and grand-children in loving abundance. She showered each and every one in her families and many friends, acquaintances and business associates with affection, patience, leadership and humor. She loved her homes in the foothills, beginning with a 1929 $500.00 cabin up Cub Creek; shared with her family. Parents Ernest Roscoe and Rachel Lee Bails, big sister Elizabeth ‘Betty’ and younger brother James ‘Jim’. During and after WWll and Korea, her nieces and nephews, Susan, Sally, Bernard Lentz, and Mark and Jenny Bails were often at the cabin with their mother, Diane Bails. During WWll she married Donald W. Carson. They had 4 children David R. Carson of Loveland, CO; Stephen W. Carson of Evergreen, CO and two sweet angel daughters Carol and Julie Ann. Carson cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. After marrying James McGrail, she shared a deep affection for his two sons Joseph McGrail, his eldest son, of Canyon City and Fran McGrail his youngest son. After Jim passed, Mary Alice remarried; a dear friend, Robert ‘Smokey’ Stoffel. Mary Alice and Smokey had a remarkable fun-filled journey, enhanced by the large Stoffel clan. Sons Mike, Dave, Steve, Eric and Kirk. Daughters Kathy and Terry. What a lot of shining times! Travel. Hiking. Skiing. When Smokey passed in 2009, Mary Alice re-kindled her deep affection with her 1st love, Mr. Robert Rutledge of Montrose, CO. These East High Angels, their delightful companionship maintained faithfully through the years, inspired all they knew and loved.
