John Otto Voight
July 26th, 1946 - March 9th, 2004
" John Otto Voight, 57, of Lyman Barnes Rd., died Tuesday at home surrounded by his family. Born in Springfield, MA on July 26, 1946, he was the son of the late Rudie A. and Lucille (DeMarchi) Voight. John was raised in Springfield and graduated from Springfield Technical High School. He moved from Springfield to Brimfield 10 years ago. John was proud to be a US Navy Veteran who served two terms during the Vietnam War, supporting his belief in serving his country to defend our freedom. In addition to being a very patriotic person, John also loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and believed in catch and release, and also enjoyed camping and traveling. Professionally, he worked for over 25 years as a service technician for Moore Business Forms which is now known as Peak Technologies in Windsor, CT. John will also be remembered as a person who had many skills, and was always available to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 12 years Rena (Douville) Voight, three children, John D. and Chelsey Voight, at home, and Teri Voight of Chicopee. He also leaves four step children, Clifford Vermette of Springfield, Shirley and Thomas Vermette of Washington, and Christy Volinos of Chester. He also leaves three brothers Rudie of Hampden, Robert of Ludlow and Michael of Springfield, two sisters Florence Monroe of Hampden and Debbie McCullough of Springfield, along with five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister Diane Madore in 1993. A funeral service will be Monday at 10:00 am in the BEERS & STORY PALMER FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Main St., (Rte.20), followed by burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield. Calling hours are Sunday from1:00-3:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to his daughter Chelsey's Education Fund, P.O. Box 336, Brimfield, MA 01010. "
