Lucille Howie Hill
February 10th, 1923 - July 30th, 2013
Lucille Howie Hill, 90, of Charlotte, NC died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born February 10, 1923 in York County, SC, daughter of the late Thurman M. and Beatrice Hovis Howie. Mrs. Hill was a 1940 graduate of Berryhill High School where she was the salutatorian of her class and the winner of the Math Medal. She was a long-time member of Mulberry Presbyterian Church, Circle 1 and the Young at Heart Group. Mrs. Hill was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader and loved to sew and crochet. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Ovid Ray Hill and a daughter, Beverly Shrum. She is survived by a son, David Ray Hill and his wife, Cindy of Concord, NC; three grandchildren, Mandy Beck and her husband, John of Charlotte, Laura Johnson and her husband, Chad of Concord, NC, and Bradley Hill and his wife, Holly of Concord, NC; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Alison Johnson and Spencer and Gavin Beck; and a sister, Elise Jackson and her husband Edward of Rock Hill, SC. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 2, 2013 in the Hankins & Whittington Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jeff Pinkston and Rev. Valerie Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulberry Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
