Steve Holloway, of Matthews, North Carolina died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 while vacationing in Cancun, Mexico. He was born on May 25, 1949 in Randolph County, North Carolina to Virtle Holloway and the late Joseph Holloway. Steve was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, as well as a talented musician and devoted ECU Pirate Football Fan. Steve received his Bachelor of Music Education from East Carolina University in 1971 and was involved with the Matthews Concert Band for many years. In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his wife, Debbie; sons, Todd Holloway and his wife, Connie of Newnan, Georgia and Eric Holloway and his wife, Grier of Greenwood, Indiana; step-son Travis Thompson and his wife, Mindy of Charlotte; sisters, Teresa Robbins and her husband, Tommy of Bolivia, NC, Barbara Whitaker and her husband, David of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Bridget, Candace and Brandy Hilton, Chandler and Cayton Holloway, Brady, Braxton, and Boden Thompson; great-grandchildren Chanel Vaughn and Javen Russo; nieces, Kimberly and Catherine; and many other beloved relatives. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington, 1111 East Blvd. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 13 in the Holloway Family Cemetery in Durham, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Carolina University, 102 A.J. Fletcher Music Center, Attention: Friends of the School of Music, Greenville, NC 27858-4353.
