Karen J. Cyr

"South Hadley-Karen J. (Sitnik) Cyr, 69, passed away October 13, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center. Born December 13, 1945 in Northampton, MA she was the daughter of Rosalie (Meller) Sitnik. Karen has lived in South Hadley since 1973, previously residing in West Springfield. She worked as a teachers aid for many years at the South Hadley High School and retired in 2011 after 22 years as an Telecommunications Specialist from Umass-Amherst. Her greatest pride was her family and she adored her grandchildren who lovingly called her "Nana". She will be dearly missed by her husband of 49 years, Richard N., along with her 4 children, Jeffrey Cyr and wife Ania of South Hadley, Scott Cyr and wife Kelley of Hingham, Julie Gentile and husband Robert and Jennifer Carleton and husband Matthew all of South Hadley. Her dear grandchildren, Olivia, Kayla, Anthony, Bennett, Katelyn, Maggie and Camden along with her brother Lee Sitnik of Columbia, SC and several nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive her. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Luce in 2014. Visitation will be Sunday, October 18, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. with a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Sisters of Providence Health Systems, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104."
