Clayton Babe'' H. Gelinas
December 30th, 1927 - July 1st, 2003
" Clayton “Babe” H. Gelinas, 75 of Anderson Rd. passed away July 1, 2003 at home with his family by his side. Born December 30, 1927 in Burlington,VT, he was the son of the late Edward and Edmine (Miller) Gelinas. Clayton served his country during Korean War in the U.S. Marines. He worked for 37 years as a regional sales manager for Liggett and Myers in Raleigh-Durham,NC, before his retirement in 1986. He then started Busy Bee Cleaning services with his son in 1987 and continued working until 1990. Clayton was past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus third degree of Palmer council 376 as well as fourth degree Arch Bishop William Assembly. He was also a Eucharistic minister and very active on the parish council at the church. Clayton enjoyed restoring mustangs, gardening, antique shopping and collecting miniature cars. He is survived by his loving family; his wife of 53 years, Gloria (Allain), and his children Karen Aliengena of Loganville, GA, Joanne Chaffee of Monson, Cynthia Davies of Ware, David Gelinas of Monson, Larry Gelinas also of Monson, Mark Gelinas of Hardwick, and Barry Gelinas of Stafford Springs,CT. Clayton also leaves his brother Arnold Gelinas of Los Angeles, CA, seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Winton. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4-7:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Clayton’s memory to the St. Thomas Cemetery Fund, c/o St. Thomas Church, Thorndike St., Palmer,MA 01069 or to Quaboag Valley Hospice, 103 Fairview St. Palmer,MA 01069. "
