"Deborah Lynn Magoon- UpChurch, 49, of Westfield, died on April 9, 2012, in St. Petersburg, FL, after a long and valiant battle with breast cancer. Born in Pittsfield, MA on June 14, 1962, Deborah was educated in the Adams and Westfield public schools and was a 1980 graduate of Westfield High School. A gifted artist, Deborah graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in illustration, and chose art as a lifelong profession. She was a devoted mother and wife. Deborah was also a Vice-President of University Products in Holyoke, and ran Hamms/Spectrum Art Supplies Division in St. Petersburg, FL, The Muse Gallery in West Hartford, CT, and The Muse Gallery in Holyoke, MA. Deborah also founded and ran Chantelle Publishing, a publisher and distributor of limited edition prints as well as the exclusive publisher of the works of internationally acclaimed artist, Karl Bang. Deborah was a very strong willed and spiritual person, and was an intense advocate for alternative medicine. Debbie was predeceased by her mother, Alice Magoon, in 2010. She leaves to forever remember, her husband of twenty one years, Donald UpChurch, her beloved son Chazz UpChurch both of Westfield, her stepdaughter Heather Nicole UpChurch of Raleigh NC, her father David Magoon of Westfield, her brother John Magoon and his wife Kathleen of South Hadley, her brother Scott Magoon and his wife Lauren of West Cummington. Deborah also leaves behind her first grand daughter, Skylar Elaine of Raleigh, NC. She also leaves behind a niece and nephews, Dylan and Chelsea Magoon of South Hadley, Ryan, Cooper and Seth Magoon of West Cummington. Deborah will be very missed by her Aunts and Uncles and cousins from the Evans and Johnson families in Dummerston VT, the Magoon family in Taunton, the UpChurch family in Raleigh, NC, and a very special cousin Heidi Johnson-Burbo from Grand Isle, VT, who was a special friend and caregiver. The visitation will be at Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., on Friday evening, April 20, 2012 from 5-7:30 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Church of Christ, 85 Montcalm Ave. Chicopee, on Saturday April 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Debbie's request was for everyone attending her memorial service to be dressed in white if possible, formal attire is not required.
