" Helena A. Brown, 104, formerly of Pleasant St, in the Bondsville section of Palmer, died May 4 at Life Care Center in Wilbraham. Born in Bondsville, Oct. 4, 1898, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (Shea) Brown. Helena lived in the same house in Bondsville for 99 years before spending her remaining years in Wilbraham. Helena was a graduate of Palmer High School, attended business school and worked for many years at Springfield College. She was a charter member of St. Bartholomew's Church in Bondsville and a charter member and first Regent of the former Father McKeaney Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. Helena and her sister ran Brown Brothers Coal & Grain and during WWII she drove the coal truck to deliver coal. She is survived by a niece Mary E. Brown of Cleveland, OH, two nephews Paul J .Brown of W. Springfield, and Patrick W. Brown of Tampa, FL, along with several grand nieces and nephews and several great grand nieces and nephews. Helena was predeceased by five brothers John, William, Patrick, Timothy and Thomas and a sister, Mary. The family wishes to thank the staff of Life Care Center of Wilbraham and a very special thank you to the staff of Hampshire Woods. ''We are eternally grateful for your wonderful care and very special kindnesses.'' Calling hours will be Thursday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home prior to a mass in St. Bartholomew's Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Thomas Cemetery Improvement Fund, Thorndike St, Palmer, or to a charity of one's choice. "
