Charles E. Grout
December 31st, 1945 - March 12th, 2012
"Charles Ellis Grout, 66, passed away peacefully at Hadley at Elaine. Also known as (Foggy) to some, he was born on December 31, 1945 in Marylane hospital, Ware Ma.. He leaves 4 daughters, Darlene Sarnelli and her husband Michael of Chicopee, Geri -Ann St Pierre and her fiancé Keith Patrick of Belchertown, Joanne Grout and her fiancé Rick Lebiecki of South Hampton and youngest daughter with whom he lived, Kim Grout and boyfriend Bo Racine who Chuck referrerd to as " the son he never had". He also leaves 9 grandchildren Michael Jr, Matthew and Nicholas Sarnelli, Jessica Grout and Marc St Pierre Jr, Brittany, Jaylynn and Alicia Grout and Maisun Grout-Rollins, along with Jasmine, Kaylee, and Leianna Racine, his soon to be step grandchildren. He also will be missed by his grand puppy Koda and mouse catcher, Sweetie. He leaves his long time best friend Donald Sanford along with friends, April, Robbie, Ally and Austin Kosuda and Jakob Miller along with the many friends he made at Hadley at Elaine and many more friends and extended family. He was a member of the VFW and Teamsters and worked for Northeast Foods for many years before leaving to become an independent truck driver/business partner of Quabbin Valley Trucking then C.E. Grout Trucking until retiring in 2007. He had a passion for his family as well as his dump truck which was his pride and joy, building it from the ground up with his own bare hands. He loved his Harleys and recently owned a 02 Heritage Softail which he was able to ride a few last times before becoming sick. Shopping expeditions to Home Depot was his favorite pass time where he would buy all his tools to do his repairs. Chuck loved his eggs and burgers! He was predeceased by his father Karl Ellis Grout, mother, Alberta Augusta Grindle Grout Stone, his beloved sister and friend Sondra Ethelyn Grout also known as "Auntie" and the love of his life June Mary Shattuck Grout. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hadley at Elaine Care & Rehabilitation Center, North Maple St., Hadley, MA, for the wonderful care they have provided to him. A Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, March 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial is private.
