Dale Tolbert

TOLBERT, Dale Lynn, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away August 28, 2018, at the age of 71. Dale was raised in Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY. He was a high school football player who married his high school sweetheart, Eileen McAteer. At the age of 16 Dale earned his pilot’s license. He later went on to serve in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot for the US Army. Dale was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and Air Medal w/Valor. Following his discharge from the Army, Dale was employed as a private pilot flying for top executives and celebrities including 20+ years as pilot for singer, John Denver. His wife, Eileen, predeceased him, eleven years ago. She was the love of his life. Dale is survived by his son, Roger Lee Tolbert (Amanda) and grandchildren Jordan Lee, Courtney Lynn and Ryland Luc, and his daughter, Julie Hollingshead (Jason) and their sons Chase Allen, Connor Jason Ray and Hudson Grey. Dale’s Mom, Francis Tolbert, predeceased him as well. His Dad, a recent centurion, Jack Tolbert, resides in Roanoke, Texas. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Scott Tolbert (Pam) and his children Carol and Linda, and a Brother, Morgan Tolbert (Pamela) and his children Austin, Preston and Audrey. His wife’s mother, Evelyn McAteer, 99 years old, and Eileen’s brother’s, Larry and Ray McAteer, and their families, all mourn the passing of Dale. Dale had the biggest heart. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had the best sense of humor and would do anything for his family. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be held in the next coming weeks.
