Tyler Spradling
May 11th, 1990 - May 11th, 2011
Tyler ?Sprad? Spradling, 21, of Charlotte, NC, died unexpectedly at home on his birthday, May 11, 2011. He was born in Charlotte, NC, May 11, 1990, son of Barbara and Steve Spradling. Loved for his wit, charm and spontaneous acts of joy, which often lured family and friends away from obligations to just be goofy, Tyler insisted that people notice beauty and consider deeper questions. For one so young, Tyler had broad shoulders to comfort hurting friends, fast fingers on a Fender guitar and quick competence accomplishing tasks he?d never before attempted, especially at his mom?s work wielding a cordless drill or driving a forklift. He was eager to devour such challenges and feed his family and friends laughter, art, music and adventure. His best moments were deeply personal -- lighting up whatever place he chose to visit with a story, a smile or a hug. He was the man in the purple shirt, wearing a wild hat and a beard, making music with the Lo and Beholds, Richard Parker and others. He will live on in the hearts of his friends and loving family. Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Thomas Spradling of Charlotte; grandparents, Howard and Nancy Dunsmore of Norwood, NC and Ted and Ruby Spradling of Roanoke, VA; aunts and uncles, Suzi Campbell, Chris and Sonya Spradling, Bob and Patricia Edwards, Pete and Diana Minton and Randy and Cynthia Compton. A celebration of Tyler?s life will be held at Providence Road Church of Christ, Saturday May 14, 2011 at 3:00 pm. Interment will be during a private ceremony at Salem Lutheran Church in Mt. Sidney, VA beside Tyler?s beloved uncle, Larry Campbell. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Council for Children?s Rights, 601 E. Fifth St., Suite 510, Charlotte, NC 28202 or Charlotte Christian School, 7301 Sardis Rd. Charlotte, North Carolina 28270.

The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
