Anthony Zietkowski
December 16th, 1927 - May 3rd, 2008
"Palmer, Anthony Zietkowski, 80, of Flynt St., died Saturday, May 3 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Plymouth, PA, December 16, 1927, he lived in New York, California, and Michigan before moving to Palmer in 1972. An engineer for Galileo Electro-Optics, he retired in 1993 after 30 years. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Church, and a member of the Palmer Council Knights of Columbus. In his leisure he enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, panning for gold and flying small aircraft. He also loved Polish food and fresh fruits and vegetables were a must. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years, Gladys M. (Young) along with his five children, Robert and his wife Bridget of Brimfield, William of Monson, Mary Ann and Catherine of Palmer and Sallie Czepiel and her husband Robert of Chicopee. He also leaves 5 grandchildren, along with a brother Richard Zit-Rady of Austin, TX , brothers in laws Lionel Young, and Nordel Young, and sister in law Edna Janowski and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 8 at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at 10:00 in St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to St. Thomas Church, 1076 Thorndike Street Palmer, MA 01069, or phone (413)283-5091, for masses in his memory."
