Nancy Elene Hager, 69, of Tega Cay, SC, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Nancy was born in Statesville, NC, daughter of Edgar Lonnie (Pete) Hager and Elizabeth Johnson Hager. She graduated from Statesville High School and Appalachian State University. As a young girl, she was an athlete and continued her interest in athletics as was evidenced by her many years of teaching physical education and coaching numerous sports. Nancy taught and coached for 30 years for in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System at West Mecklenburg High School, Smith Junior High, and Lansdowne Elementary. Through her outstanding career, she touched the lives of many students and parents. Nancy enjoyed boating, water sports, golf and spending time with family and friends. She was a special lady, forever young at heart, was loved by many and will be missed by all. She was a member of Grace Community United Methodist Church. Nancy is survived by her long time devoted friend, Barbara Pendleton of Tega Cay, SC; aunts, Helen Hager, Eva Garner and Louise Ervin; cousins, Debra Pearce and Wayne Hagar and their families; her adopted family, Jim and Dee Pendleton, Jean Pendleton, Esther Martin, Lauren and Daniel Bilotta, Jimmy and Kim Pendleton and Ryan Pendleton. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, April 1, 2011 in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington with Pastor Randy Madsen officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace Community Church, 1190 Gold Hill Road, Fort Mill, SC 29708 or to the charity of the donor?s choice.
