Alice Ina McMillan Mrs. McMillan, 85, of Charlotte died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Carriage Club of Charlotte, NC. Mrs. McMillan was born September 10, 1925, in Barberton, OH daughter of the late Louis and Beatrice Smith Rathbun. Alice graduated from Boston University with a degree in Journalism and received a masters degree in English from UNCC. She enjoyed skiing and traveling. Alice traveled often, but one of her most memorable trips was to London England during the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. In addition to her parents Mrs. McMillan was preceded in death by her brother, William Rathbun. Survivors include her husband, of over 55 years, Dr. Thomas McMillan of Charlotte, NC; sons, Thomas I. McMillan and wife, Linda of San Rafael, CA and Peter McMillan and wife, Tessa of London, England and San Francisco, CA and grandchildren, Georgina, Alston and William McMillan. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Dilworth United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ben Devoid officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Dilworth United Methodist Church, 605 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203. lworth Untied Methodist Church.
