Richard Nelson
July 17th, 1934 - November 10th, 2002
" Richard P. Nelson, 68, of Jackson St, died Nov. 10 at home. Born in Westfield, July 17, 1934, he has lived in Belchertown for most of his life. He worked for the Belchertown Highway Department for 30 years, retiring in 2001. He had also worked for the Belchertown Landfill and the town’s animal shelter. Richard attended Hope United Methodist Church. He loved plants and animals, and often entered his flower arrangements in the Belchertown Fair. He loved square dancing, golfing, fishing and boating. Richard will be missed in town by many, and especially his close friends Jack and Priscilla Finn of Northampton, and their children Daniel of Philadelphia and Patrick of Springfield, along with his friend Karen Stifter of Westfield. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Please make donations in his memory to D & A Pets, Box 1231, Belchertown, 01007."
