"Belchertown- Gertrude A. (Collins) Desforges, formerly of 58 Stebbins St., Belchertown, passed away at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst on Wednesday, March 12. Born in Holyoke, October 23, 1915, Gertrude was the oldest of twelve siblings born to Joseph Collins and Blanche (Lagace) Collins. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Edgar in 1987 as well as a son, Edgar Alan in 1995. Gertrude and Edgar were the proprietors of the former Debbie's Frostee located at the Quabbin Village Shops. Gertrude also worked as a cook for the Meals on Wheels program in Belchertown as well as a cook for ten years at the former St. Hyacinth College and Seminary in Granby, MA. Gertrude leaves four daughters, Joanne in New Hampshire, Karen in Shutesbury, MA, Sali in Arizona, and Barbara (Bobbie) and her husband Henry (Pete) Campeau in Belchertown, a brother, Joseph Collins of Chicopee and a sister, Mary Engelson of South Hadley. She also leaves nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. There will be no calling hours and Rites of Committal and burial will be ant the convenience of the family. "
