Edward H. Gay
February 25th, 1930 - March 13th, 2015
"Monson, Edward H. Gay, Sr., 85, of Flynt Ave., died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, March 13 at his home. Born in Chicago, IL, February 25, 1930, he was the son of Edward E. and Alice H. (Howard) Gay. He lived for many years in Belchertown, and for many years in Monson. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Belchertown and served his country proudly in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for many years at Monson Developmental Center and also at Wing Hospital before retiring. He was a member of the DAV. His wife Joyce M (Wenzel) Gay died in 2003. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Rose Donnell and her husband Richard with whom he lived, along with sons, Edward, Jr. of FL, Thomas M. of Worcester, and Gregory A. of TX. He also leaves siblings Bertha Gortz of NC, Mark Gay of Chicopee, Una Bell of TN, and Norma St. John of NH, along with his precious grandchildren to whom he was tenderly known as "Pop Pop", Joyce M. Grogan, Richard E.Donnell, Jr., Brian Gay , Joshua Gay and Robert Gay, along with several great grandchildren. Additionally, his sisters in laws, Barbara Wenzel of W. Springfield, Debbie Wenzel of Belchertown, Jean Wenzel of Holyoke and Joan Gay of Ware survive him. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter Clarissa and a brother, James. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story BELCHERTOWN Funeral Home followed by burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Belchertown. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. For those wishing, please omit flowers and make donations in his memory to Hope United Methodist Church, Wing VNA and Hospice, or Monson Ambulance Fund. "
