" Dr. Joseph V. Baldwin, 88 of Manchester, CT. died Thursday, June 27th at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born in Wilbraham, MA, son of John F. Baldwin and Ruby (Welch) Baldwin and graduated from Classical High School in Springfield. He attended Clark University and Yale University School of Medicine in 1940 where he earned his M.D. degree. He became assistant resident in pediatrics at Yale New Haven Hospital and served as research assistant at the Clinic of Child Development at Yale University working under Dr. Arnold Gesell and Dr. Catherine S. Armatruda, pioneers in child development. He later became a clinical instructor at the Center. He served the Navy during World War II as Lt. Commander and qualified as a Flight Surgeon. He leaves his wife, Marie (Austin) of Manchester, CT and a cousin Loyla Keating of Stanford, CT. He was predeceased by a brother John F. Baldwin, Jr. The funeral will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by a mass at 10 a.m. at St. Cecelia’s Church in Wilbraham, MA. Burial will follow in Adam’s Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the mass from 8:30-9:15 a.m. at the funeral home Donations may be made in his memory the Shriner’s Hospital, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104 "
