Lois R. Foerster
June 5th, 1928 - February 6th, 2015
"Chicopee, Lois R. (Richardson) Foerster, died on Friday, February 7th at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, MA on June 5, 1928, she was the daughter of William and Loretta (Prince) Richardson. In 1947 she married her husband, of what would be 43 years, Karl A. Foerster Sr, and there they raised their family. Lois was a graduate of Holyoke Community College, she obtained her Bachelors Degree from Springfield College and her MSW from The University of Connecticut. She worked for many years at Meadow Wood Nursing Home, now Wingate at South Hadley, as the Director of Social Services before her retirement. She was a member of the Scarlet Socialites, and was still serving as the Queen Mother. She traveled extensively throughout the world, enjoyed a good game of bridge, being a member of the Chicopee Senior Center and most especially, her summers on Cape Cod. She will be sadly missed by her children, Cynthia Foerster of Chicopee, Karl Jr and his wife Lynne of Orefield, PA along with her grandchildren, Heather Foerster of Louisville, KY, Laura Kohler of Allentown, PA and Craig Kohler of Copley, PA, eight great grandchildren and her sister, Janet Laing of Chicopee. Her husband Karl predeceased her in 1990 as well as a brother, William Richardson in 1981. A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, February 12, at 10:00 a.m. at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral home, 646 Newton St. Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Chicopee Council On Aging, 5 W. Main St. Chicopee, MA 01020."
