Robert W. Dow

" Robert W. Dow, 88, of Pine Valley Plantation died Monday at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Wiscasset, Maine, April 16, 1914. he was the son of the late William S. Dow and late Elsie M. Dow. Robert resided in Burlington, Ct and Wilbraham and Agawam, MA, before moving to Belchertown 26 years ago. He was a skilled machinist in the manufacturing industry working for Bath Iron Works in Maine, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney and most recently Jahn Foundry in Springfield before retiring in 1982. He enjoyed bowling and traveling in his leisure time. He also loved camping, most especially up the coast of Maine. He was predeceased by his wife Daisy E. (Simpson) Dow in 1995. He is survived by two sons and their spouses, William and Janet (Spaulding) Dow of New Britain, CT, Robert S. and Sara (Brown) Dow of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Sylvia (Johansen) Dow of Maine, and 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was also pre-deceased by his son Ronald W. Dow in 1995. Funeral Services will be Thursday morning at 11:00 am from the Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home, followed by burial in South Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 10-11:00 am.
