Glenn Leslie "Les" Browne Mr. Browne, 81, of Charlotte, passed away on January 19, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born on Savanah, GA, on January 24, 1928, son of the late Mamie and Walter Browne. Mr. Browne graduated from Lenoir Rhyne in 1952, with a degree in English. He had a storied career as an educator at Myers Park High School, Charlotte Latin, and South Mecklenburg High School. His students and fellow staff members, both of whom maintained friendships over the years, adored him. He was instrumental in producing yearbooks and teaching English, history, and photography at all three schools. In addition to his parents, Mr. Browne was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Julian and Agnew. He is survived by his sister, Louise B. Tawney of Rockledge, FL; niece Kay Tawney, of Charlotte; nephew Rev. Dwight Tawney, Jr. of Kansas City; KA, nephew Ross Brown and his wife, Cathy, of Anderson, SC; and cousins, Marilyn and Terry Reisman of Tallahassee and Matthew Resiman and his wife, Kathy, of Washington, DC. A private memorial service will be held a later date. Memorials may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078 .
