"Palmer - Barbara A. Stearns , 80, passed away January 4, 2015 at Harrington Memorial Hospital. Born September 14, 1934 in Lynn, MA, she was the daughter of Margaret (Mahoney) and Prentiss Palmer. Barbara has lived in Palmer since the age of 7, and was raised by her mother, Helen Hyman. She was a member of the Lake Thompson Womens Club and was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She loved to travel with her husband and her greatest passion was her family. Barbara will be dearly missed by her husband of 57 years, Deane A. Stearns, along with her five children, Pamela Stearns and companion Michael Boynton of Palmer, Patricia Stearns of Belchertown, Susan Searah and husband Edward of Brimfield, Norma Sadusky and companion Richard Huntley, Jr. of Westhampton, Deane Stearns, Jr. of Ludlow as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Barbara also leaves her siblings, Louise Albert of Portland, OR, Florence Jones and husband Bill of Wilbraham, Joseph Palmer of Beverly along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Palmer, son in law, Donald Sadusky, and brother in law, Al Albert. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church on Thorndike St., Palmer, with burial at 1:00 p.m. at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery on Main St. in Agawam. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home between 10:30-10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
