Betty Reid McBrayer
June 7th, 1927 - December 19th, 2016
Betty Reid McBrayer, a Charlotte native, was born on June 7, 1927 and died Monday, December 19, 2016. A graduate of Central High School in 1945, she was employed by Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph and retired from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, where she worked in titles and registration. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold E. McBrayer and her parents William A. and Mae Whisonant Reid. She is survived by her children, Wayne McBrayer and wife Terri, Alan McBrayer and wife Suzanne, Joyce Hannon and husband Ronnie, sister Barbara Reid Norman of Cary, NC and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Avondale Presbyterian Church, 2821 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28203 on Tuesday,December 27, 2016 from 2:00PM to 4:00 PM. A private service for family will be held in the Sacred Gardens in the Columbarium at Avondale Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Avondale Presbyterian Church.
