Michael Edward Moshier
January 13th, 1954 - November 15th, 2016
Mr. Moshier, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 due to complications associated with ALS. Mike, son of Delores and the late Ed Moshier, was born January 13, 1954 and raised in Port Washington, NY and later moved with his family to Charlotte, NC where he graduated from Independence High School. He is a graduate of UNC Charlotte where he played soccer and was a charter member of the Delta Lamda chapter of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Mike retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department where he served for 26 years; he spent 6 years as a School Resource Officer and retired as a sergeant in the Independence Division. During his time as a school resource officer he started the girls soccer team at Piedmont Middle School and coached them to several championship seasons. Following his retirement from CMPD, he worked with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Police Department for five years with his last assignment at Collinswood Language Academy. Everyone flocked to Mike and he had an uncanny ability to calm children, adults and dogs with his presence alone. Mike was a proud Clemson dad and was often seen supporting the Tigers in solid orange. He was an avid cave diver, MG enthusiast, and Carolinas Panthers fan. Outside of his family, his great passion was cars and Mike enjoyed any and all activities associated with them. In addition to his father, his brother, Tom, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Elizabeth; son, Scott and his wife, Hannah; mother, Delores; and grandson, Thomas. His great joy was to spend time with his new grandson, whom he adored. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM, at Sardis Presbyterian Church, 6100 Sardis Rd., Charlotte, NC 28270. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS foundation to fund research to end this terrible disease. Donations can be made at www.alsa.org
