"Chicopee - Stanley S. Akalis, passed away on September 27, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. Born October 3, 1943 in Nanticoke, PA, he was the son of Stephen and Maryanna (Grigrowski) Akalis. Stanley and his family have lived in Chicopee since 1971, previously living in Holyoke for 7 years. For 8 years, Stanley worked at Savage Arms in Westfield and for the past 30 years until his retirement, Stanley worked at WVACO- US Envelope Division in Springfield as a machine adjuster. Stanley will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Millette) along with his son, Keith Akalis of Chicopee as well as 2 grandchildren, Kayley Ouillette and her husband Stephen and Timothy Brault. Stanley was preceded by his daughter, Kristine Gallant as well as 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation will be held Monday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Beers andStory South Hadley Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Church. Burial will follow in the Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Patient Services Fund at Sister Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104. "
