Bryan Stevens Sawyer, age 64, died on Friday, August 5th at his home lovingly known as "The Frog Pond" in Waxhaw, North Carolina. A Memorial Service celebrating his vibrant, exuberant life will be held at 3pm Saturday at Hankins and Whittington in Charlotte followed by a reception at his home in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Visitation will be at 2pm prior to the Service. Bryan was born August 27th, 1951 in Exeter, New Hampshire and proceeded to give his parents James Sawyer and the late Shirley Collingwood a run for their money including, but certainly not limited to, "borrowing" his dad's brand new car and fighting off burglars with a sword. Bryan graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and joined the United States Army as a Ranger and Military Police Officer. It was during this time that Bryan also got his start in Broadcasting, a career that spanned over 30 years in the Charlotte Area. Most recently Bryan worked at Total Traffic & Weather Network, his voice reaching listeners from stations including K104.7, Kiss 95.1, Praise 100.9, and Old School 105.3. In prior years, Bryan was a Disc Jockey at Sunny 107.9, EZ 104.7 and the Love Show on Lite 102.9. Along with his beloved registered Therapy Dog, Hooch, Bryan enjoyed visiting children and adults to ease suffering through interaction with Hooch's soft coat and friendly demeanor. Bryan and Hooch were well known fixtures in Waxhaw as they visited local establishments on their routine walks. Bryan loved everything about life and all it had to offer him. He loved delicious food like lobster and crab legs, Bojangles chicken and his famous Potato soup. He loved a cold Duck Rabbit Milk Stout beer, and "harassing" servers at restaurants. He befriended everyone he met and often would go out of his way to meet and delight new people. Bryan lit up every room he entered and with him, it was sincerely never a dull moment. Bryan is survived by his two daughters: Sydney Davis of Fort Mill, SC, and Alex Sawyer of Charlotte and her three children, Madilyn, McKenzie, and Morgan. His siblings: Allyson Hummel of Reston, Virginia, Stephen Sawyer of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Diana Brinson of Atlanta, Georgia, his father, James Sawyer and Stepmother, Elizabeth Sawyer, 12 Nieces and Nephews: Madison, Chase, Luke, Zachary, Joshua, Greg, Tommy, Nick, Joe, Chris, Robert, and Erin and his surrogate son and beloved friend, Quinn Purificato. In addition to those named here, he will be sorely missed by countless friends and family members, co-workers, and thousands of loyal listeners in the Charlotte Area. In addition to his late mother he was preceded in death by Melissa Goetchius Sawyer. "Never grow up; I can't imagine it would be much fun." -Bryan Sawyer
