Sophie F Desmarais

"Chicopee-Sophie F. Desmarais, a resident of the Willimansett Center, East Nursing Home, peacefully passed away on February 22, 2018 at the age of 102. Sophie was born September 13, 1915 in Holyoke, MA and was the daughter of Antoni and Anna (Lapatkiewicz) Skowroneck. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Conrad G. Desmarais and eldest son, Conrad A. Desmarais. Sophie is survived by her sons, Philip and wife Theresa, of Gastonia, NC and David and wife Sandra, of Chicopee. Also, she leaves her grandchildren, Melanie White, Michael, Gregory and Christopher Desmarais, along with 8 great grandchildren. Sophie was the last surviving sibling of the Skrowronek children. Preceding her were sisters Mary, Josephine, Helen, Frances, Antoinette and brother John. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Beers & Story Funeral Home, South Hadley with visitation from 10-11:00 a.m. and a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Cross Church all on Monday, Feb 26th at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Mater-Dolorosa Cemetery.
