Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home
Litsa Flores Boukedes
September 10th, 1938 - March 11th, 2016
Litsa Flores Boukedes, 77, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2016. Born on September 10th, 1938 in Sparta, Greece to George and Klemendia Flores. Litsa was a lifelong educator, always trying to better the youth of the Greek Community. She taught at the Greek Orthodox Church for almost three decades. She was an only child and is survived by her three sons, Steve and wife Caroline, George, and Chris and wife Danielle, and her two loving grandchildren Ella & Zoey. A deep and emotional woman with a heart of gold. She loved with everything she had and wanted it that way in return. A passion for cooking and always entertaining, her house was always full. Reading and writing were her biggest passions and if there was a free moment, the pages would fill with amazingly true and vivid stories of a life very well spent. Litsa is a strong woman that this world will most certainly miss. Heaven gained an angel and a lot of people long past, now have their old friend again. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her cats. She loved to be outdoors, the sun gave her strength, having her boys near gave her life, having all of her wonderful and dear friends around gave her happiness. Litsa was one of a kind, never to be replaced, if you were lucky enough to know her, you understand completely! She will most certainly be a guardian angel for her grandchildren and a strong representation of what is important in life. Litsa is at peace and we will miss her dearly! The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte. Trisagion and Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in memory of Litsa

The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
