Jean Deese Bradshaw
August 25th, 1932 - March 10th, 2016
Jean Deese Bradshaw , age 83, of Charlotte, North Carolina was suddenly called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 10, 2016. Although the result of a stroke, God answered her prayers to die in her sleep, free of suffering, and surrounded by her loving family. Jean was preceded in death by and deeply mourned her beloved husband of 56 years, Roy Bradshaw, her daughter Jan Bradshaw Stutts (who passed away last May) and Jan's husband Pete Stutts (who passed away just last week). She is survived by three of her four children, Pat Bradshaw Todd, Shay Bradshaw Hartley (Bob) and Ken Bradshaw (Melody); seven grandchildren, Lauren Davis (Bradley), Lindsay Bouronich (Aaron), Eve Bradshaw, Bryan Funderburg, Michael Todd, Brad Stutts and Adam Stutts; and two great-grandchildren, Waylon Davis and his little brother who will arrive in June of 2016. She will be deeply missed by her many, many friends (including best friends Goldie Waddell and Virginia Jordan, both of Lake Norman) and her loving companion Marilyn Smith (Paul) of Matthews. Jean grew up on a farm in Indian Trail, North Carolina where she was the 10th of 13 children. Jean was fortunate enough to be a homemaker during the years in which she raised her children, and worked at JB Ivey's. Jean and Roy retired to Lake Norman where she enjoyed, boating, playing with her grandchildren and entertaining their friends and large extended families. After Roy's death Jean moved to the Carriage Club in Charlotte, NC to be near to her family where she was known for her fun-loving personality and for doing the "shimmy." Jean was a woman of many facets - one minute a sweet southern lady (who never ventured out without her matching jewelry and perfect lipstick) and the next, a mischievous prankster with a sparkle in her eye, sharing a saucy one liner and her infectious laugh. Her beautiful blue eyes were remarked on often, and she was beautiful inside as well as outside. It was impossible to outgive Jean who was known for her overwhelming generosity. Those who shared in her life were abundantly blessed beyond measure and look forward to sharing eternity with her in heaven. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC, 28203, where a funeral service in celebration of her life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at the home of Shay Hartley at 312 Kindling Wood Lane, Marvin, NC 28173 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening.
