Dolores Condon Fox
September 1st, 1928 - December 25th, 2015
Dolores (Dee) Condon Fox, 87, died at Sardis Oaks Rehabilitation Center on December 25, 2015 after several years of overcoming many infirmities. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, raised in Radburn and Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and lived in New York, Germany, San Antonio, Ennis and Wichita Falls, Texas as well Camden and Fayetteville, Arkansas. Dolores has lived in Charlotte with her husband of 57 years Gerald (Jerry) since 1980. Dee was the mother of three children: Stephen (Karen) Fox of Dallas, Gerald Fox, Jr. ("Skip") of Charlotte and Carol (Patrick) Laratta of Tampa; and grandmother of eleven: Maria Laratta (Adam) Pendelton, John (Leah), Gabrielle and Sophia Laratta from Tampa; Austin, Abby, Preston and Brandon Fox from Charlotte; and Stephen "Connor", Kendall and Kylie Fox from Dallas. William and Slate Brinkley are step grandsons. She grew up with seven siblings- Joseph, Donald and Arthur Condon and Patricia Menges survive Dee. She was preceded in death by brothers Gerald, Thomas and Frank Condon and by her father Joseph, mother Helen and step-mother Elizabeth. Dee has endearing friendships with hundreds of close friends in Charlotte and former residences. She will be remembered for her smile, her ability to listen, understand and comfort with compassion and love. She attended public schools in Basking Ridge and Bernardsville, New Jersey. She also holds degrees from Endicott (Mass) College and Wittenberg (Ohio) University. Dee was active in her church activities and several Charlotte arts organizations, including symphony, opera and ballet. She volunteered with several non-profit boards and service organizations. She also was a partner with her husband Gerald (Jerry), the former Mecklenburg County Manager, in many civic activities for the past thirty-five years in Charlotte and twenty-five years in other cities. A funeral mass will be celebrated St. Peter's Catholic Church, 507 S. Tryon Street, Charlotte, on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at the St. Peter's Columbarium. Visitation will be at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00PM with a prayer service at 6:00PM in the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to St. Peter's Catholic Church Social Justice Committee. Arrangements are in care of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, Charlotte, NC.
