Leonard "Lee" Lenville Stamper of Charlotte, NC, 87, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, at the North Carolina State Veteran's Home in Black Mountain, NC. Born June 8, 1928 in Carter County, KY, he was the son of the late Jesse and Gracie Brinegar Stamper. Mr. Stamper served in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a microbiologist for nearly 60 years, including 21 years at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC and 12 years at Laboratory Corporation of America in Burlington, NC. Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Ann Stamper and Sue Stamper of Lancaster, SC; son, Mark Stamper of Clayton, NC; daughter, Kara Stamper of Indian Trail, NC; brother, Marvin Stamper of Olive Hill, KY; sister, Dixie Singh of Magalia, CA; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol May Lazarchick Stamper; granddaughter, Carol Anne Stamper; brother, James O. Stamper of Fairborn, OH; and sisters, Arlie Stamper and Ola Mae Stamper Wyrick of Flat Rock, IN. A graveside service will held at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, December 1 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lee's memory to a charity of your choice.
