"Chicopee/Monson-Lorraine M. (Rondeau) Smith, 90, passed away August 18, 2018. Born February 23, 1928 in Ware, she was the daughter of Oliver and Elmira (Goodreau) Rondeau. Lorraine grew up in Palmer and lived for many years in Monson. For the past 2 years, she has resided at the Arbors of Chicopee. Lorraine worked in the family's business, Rondeau's Dairy Bar in the 40’s and 50’s. She was also a bookkeeper and retired from the Springfield Library. Although Lorraine claimed to be ‘shy’ she loved talking to people wherever she went and tell stories of her family on the farm and living in the Philippines and Puerto Rico. In 2017, she was predeceased by her husband Donald E. Smith, Jr. and in 2018 was predeceased by her special niece and nephew, Carol and Dick Rondeau. Lorraine will long be remembered by all of her family, most especially her grand-nieces Michelle and Rachael as well as grand-nephews, Michael and Chris Rondeau. She also leaves her step daughter, Donna Gouin of Ware and grandsons Nicholas Gouin of CT and Timothy Gouin of Ware, and many other nieces, nephews and their families. All services will be privately held at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Donations may be may to Dakin Humane Society, PO Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101."
