Beers and Story - Belchertown
Matthew P Houser
May 19th, 1986 - August 30th, 2018
"Matthew Houser never spoke a word but his smiles and gestures spoke volumes about love, devotion and caring. He reflected in his actions and expressions the care and love of his family, friends, and nurses. Matthew P. Houser was born May 19, 1986 in Plantation, FL, he was the son of Paul A. Houser and Caroline E. Peck. He was later adopted by his maternal grandparents, Julie and Clyde Peck. On August 30, 2018, Matthew passed away at his home in Belchertown with his family by his side. Living in Florida until 1990, Matthew then moved to NC and later to Belchertown, MA in 2000. Matthew attended the LPVEC at Minnechaug Regional High School and then went on to attend Belchertown High School until age 22 at which time he moved from his grandparents home in Belchertown to his residential program on Jabish Street. Matthew enjoyed his day program at the former RRI, later known as Venture in Sturbridge. Matthew loved the "bumpy ride" in the van four days a week, and loved his "Grandma's Day" on Tuesday. He was cared for by a team of devoted nurses who loved him dearly and made every day a day of joy. Matthew will be dearly missed by his family: Julie, Sarah C., Chad, Lori, Sarah M., Abigail, Madeleine and Katie Peck. Matthew was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Clyde Peck and his biological mother, Caroline Peck. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 4th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. An informal gathering at the graveside will be held Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at South Cemetery, Mill Valley Rd (Rte 181 on the corner of Jensen St.) in Belchertown. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Matthew’s Fund, which will provide for the unmet needs of individuals like Matthew. ServiceNet will manage the fund. To donate, please make a check out to “ServiceNet” and put “Matthew’s Fund” on the memo line. The check can be forwarded through Julie Peck or mailed to: ServiceNet Development Office 21 Olander Drive Northhampton, MA 01060"
