Robert Arlen Linn
April 28th, 1931 - June 15th, 2015
Robert Linn - 84, of Southminster Retirement Community died June 15, 2015. He was born April 28, 1931 in Kannapolis, NC, the son of Carl and Ruth Linn. He graduated from J.W. Cannon High School and was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Linn was associated with the Natural Gas Industry for many years. He was a Vice President with Piedmont Natural Gas Company before joining Public Service Company of NC. He retired as Senior Vice President of Administrative Services in 1993. He was active in community affairs related to his work and a longtime member of Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bobbye Steele; daughter, Julie Moore and husband Charles of Weddington, NC; son, Robert Steven Linn and wife Denise of Longmont, Colorado; grandsons, Dr. Robert Moore and wife Dr. Alycia Weikel Moore of San Antonio, Texas and David Moore of Durham, NC. Mr. Linn's family wishes to express their appreciation for the excellent care given to him by the entire staff of the Southminster Health Care Center with a special thanks to the staff on Ivey Lane for their devoted care during his long illness. The family is also deeply grateful for the supportive and compassionate care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte. A memorial service will be held at Southminster Retirement Community at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southminster Community Fund, 8919 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church, 2929 Selwyn Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28209.
